It's the 2070s, and mankind has conquered space, making interplanetary travel possible and igniting the imaginations of the world. It's also vastly increased the amount of dangerous space debris, and someone has to clean it up. Hachimaki, Yuri, and Fee are a crew on that beat, each with their own goals, tendencies, and personal problems: Hachimaki dreams of deep-space exploration in his own ship, Yuri is still recovering from the death of his wife in an accident caused by orbiting debris, and Fee is secretive, but there's a lot going on under the surface! Just trying to do their jobs in an age of space-age environmental concerns and new vistas of exploration, the crew deals with Hachi's fear of isolation hampering his hopes of joining an upcoming Jupiter mission, keep an eye on the wreckage for signs of Yuri's lost wife, and become unwitting heroes when the only place Fee can still smoke is threatened by terrorists! Dark Horse Manga is proud to present Makoto Yukimura's award-winning hard sci-fi epic Planetes in two omnibus-sized editions, complete with bonus color pages never before seen in America! "Planetes has it all: strong themes, interesting characters, and great art." -Anime Fringe

Explore the stars and the farthest reaches of the galaxy with the complete Rogue Trader saga in one omnibus edition. Licensed by ancient charter, Rogue Traders explore the uncharted regions of the galaxy, seeking new worlds to exploit on behalf of the Imperium. The fortunes of Roge Trader Lucian Gerrit and his family are in decline, and his inheritance amounts to little more than a pile of debt and misery. In a final, desperate gamble to restore his family’s former glory, Gerrit strikes a deal on a forgotten Imperial world in the Eastern Fringe, but his timing could not be worse. The alien tau are seeking to expand their empire across the Damocles Gulf, and soon Gerrit is caught in the middle of a clash between two mighty star-spanning empires, neither of which is willing to back down. Andy Hoare is the author of the Space Marine Battles novel The Hunt for Voldorius, the Astra Militarum novel Commissar, and the Rogue Trader trilogy, comprising the novels Rogue Star, Star of Damocles and Savage Scars. He has also written a number of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 short stories for Black Library. He spent many years working in the Games Workshop Design Studio and now writes background and rules for Forge World's Imperial Armour and Horus Heresy books.

Ghost Stories of an Antiquary by M. R. James, F...

The details of horror are almost never explicit, the stories relying on a gentle, bucolic background to emphasise the awfulness of the otherworldly intrusions. James' style of writing can be considered as 'gothic'.After Jonathan Miller adapted 'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad' for Omnibus in 1968, several stories from the collection were adapted as the BBC's yearly Ghost Story for Christmas strand, including 'Lost Hearts', 'The Treasure of Abbot Thomas', 'The Ash-tree' and 'Number 13'. 'Whistle and I'll Come to You' was also heavily adapted by Neil Cross for broadcast on Christmas Eve 2010.From 'The Ash Tree': Everyone who has traveled over Eastern England knows the smaller country-houses with which it is studded -- the rather dank little buildings, usually in the Italian style, surrounded with parks of some eighty to a hundred acres. . . . I have to tell you of a curious series of events which happened in such a house as I have tried to describe. It is Castringham Hall in Suffolk. I think a good deal has been done to the building since the period of my story, but the essential features I have sketched are still there -- Italian portico, square block of white house, older inside than out, park with fringe of woods, and mere. The one feature that marked out the house from a score of others is gone. As you looked at it from the park, you saw on the right a great old ash tree growing within half a dozen yards of the wall, and almost or quite touching the building with its branches. I suppose it had stood there ever since Castringham ceased to be a fortified place, and since the moat was filled in and the Elizabethan dwelling-house built. At any rate, it had well-nigh attained its full dimensions in the year 1690. In that year the district in which the Hall is situated was the scene of a number of witch-trials.
